What’s with this "subscription" stuff?

With our previous app, you bought an island and the content was fixed from the day you bought it. Like with a book, nothing would be updated until the next edition, which you could either buy or not buy, your choice.

With a subscription, you get all the information that’s in the book PLUS we can update the app dynamically for a full year, even down to changing beach descriptions to account for high surf warnings, telling you when businesses are temporarily closed or if highways are closed due to accidents, and much more. At the end of the year you keep the information, and just like when buying a book, the information won’t be updated unless you renew the subscription (like buying a new edition of a book).
